A pork loin is browned and cooked in the crock pot with orange juice and white wine. A sauce of balsamic vinegar & brown sugar is spooned over.
Trim excess fat from pork. Heat oil and butter or margarine in a 10- or 11-inch skillet over medium-high heat and cook pork for 8 to 10 minutes until brown on all sides, turning every two minutes as necessary.
Place pork in a 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker along with next 5 ingredients; cover. Set temperature to low heat for 7 to 9 hours.
Meanwhile, prepare sauce by combining all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until brown sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently. Set aside and keep warm.
When pork is tender, remove from cooker and place on a serving platter. Spoon half of the sweet and tangy sauce on top of pork and reserve the other half to pass at the table.
Notes:
This recipe is excellent served with a vegetable (such as carrots or green beans), mashed potatoes and crusty bread.
