Onion and Garlic Ham and Cheese Bake

This casserole is a baked macaroni and cheese with ham, onion, garlic and plenty of cheese. Serve with a salad and bread for a great meal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 5 1/3 cups whole milk
- 2 2/3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 2/3 cups shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
- 1-1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 6 cups cooked rotini pasta
- 2 cups diced cooked ham
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Method
In a large saucepan, melt butter. Saute onion and garlic until soft. Stir in flour, salt, mustard and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil. Stir for 1 minute or until thickened then reduce heat. Add cheeses and Worcestershire sauce then stir until cheese is melted. Fold in pasta and ham. Pour into a 1 qt baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray. Top with panko bread crumbs. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees 10-15 minutes or until bubbly and browned.
