Middle Eastern Pork Chops

These pork chops are simmered with carrots and potatoes in a tomato sauce that contains a blend of spices--pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves.
 

Ingredients

  • 4-5 boneless pork chops
  • 1 2-lb bag carrots, peeled and cut in half
  • 4-5 white potatoes, peeled and cut in half
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce, salt, pepper and remaining spices. Stir well. Place pork chops in a Dutch oven. Pour sauce mixture evenly over chops. Add potatoes, carrots and a small amount of water to Dutch oven, so chops won't burn. Cover and cook 1 1/2 hours.
