Make-Ahead Breakfast Casserole

Crumbled bread is layered with cooked sausage, an egg and milk mixture, and finally with cheddar cheese. This is chilled overnight and baked the next day.
Ingredients
- 1 pound bulk sausage (either hot or mild)
- 3 slices of bread, crumbled
- 2 cups of milk
- 6 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups shredded Chedder cheese

Method
Butter a 9" square pan. Brown the sausage; drain. Put crumbled bread in the bottom of the pan. Top the bread with the cooked sausage. Beat together the milk and eggs; pour this mixture on top of the sausage layer. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes, or until knife near center comes out clean. Let the casserole stand for 15 minutes to allow it to set up before cutting. Enjoy!
Notes: If you wish, 1/2 cup of chopped onions and/or 1/4 cup of green peppers may be cooked with the sausage and added.
