Brunch Egg Casserole


Oven-toasted bread cubes and shredded cheddar cheese are layered and covered with an egg-milk mixture seasoned with prepared mustard and onion powder.



Ingredients:

  • 4 cups toasted bread cubes
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 9 slightly beaten eggs
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 10 slices of bacon

Method

Spread bread cubes in bottom of a 13x9x2-inch greased baking dish. Sprinkle cheese over cubes. Combine eggs, milk and seasonings; pour over bread-cheese mixture. Bake in 325 degree oven until egg mixture is set, 40 to 45 minutes. Crisp-cook and crumble bacon and sprinkle over casserole during last 10 minutes of baking time.

Notes: Can be put together (except for bacon) and kept in the refrigerator overnight, then baked in the morning for brunch.
